ALEMBIC LODGE’S CULTURE
The right fit
We prioritize fit — that is, ensuring that Alembic Lodge and the prospective member are the right fit for each other. We believe that spending the time needed to get to know each other is fundamental to success.
Fellowship
We emphasize fellowship. Time spent dining at a local restaurant before meetings, socializing after meetings, participating in enjoyable events, and having casual get-togethers is important to us.
Kindness
We are charitable. Working together, whether by volunteering or making donations, broadens the impact of each member’s commitment to improving the lives of others.
The candidate experience
We focus on one candidate at a time. That way, each enjoys a meaningful, personalized, thought-provoking, and inspiring journey. Everyone benefits when we add to our number purposefully, carefully, and selectively.
Education
We present an educational program or discussion at each meeting. We encourage members and candidates to prepare topics of discussion, papers of research, and other materials that will enhance our understanding of the world, our fraternity, and ourselves. We also invite subject-matter experts to speak and field questions.
Attendance, presence, and participation
We show up for each other and for our Lodge. We are focused. We are active.
Accountability
We recognize that true brotherhood requires us to follow through on our commitments to each other and our Lodge.
ALEMBIC LODGE’S HISTORY
Why we’re here
Alembic Lodge exists because a small group of Masons shared a common interest in a Lodge experience that would meet modern wants, needs, and expectations while celebrating the best aspects of Masonic tradition.
The name
The alembic was a scientific apparatus used to refine materials. Historically speaking, we find the earliest appearances of alembics in ancient Greek alchemy. Metaphorically speaking, Freemasonry is an alembic through which we find tools that help us refine ourselves.
